CFYDDI Defends Child Development at National Forum

The National Forum on the State of the Ugandan Child took place on 27-28 of October 2015 at Speke Resort Hotel Munyonyo. Canadian Interns, Kristen Myers and Courtney Vaughan, attended the event on behalf of CFYDDI.

Stakeholders and other leaders, including but not limited to, members of parliament, various government ministries including the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, Technology and Sport, UNICEF, USAID, U.S. Peace Corps, UKAID, UN representatives and civil society organizations, gathered to increase national commitment to improve child well-being. The forum sought to create a common understanding, based on the current data of the challenges children face, to advocate for holistic child development reform, and to build linkages and networks for actions that change children’s lives.

Honorary guest Rt. Hon. Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda introduced the National Action Plan and encouraged everyone to take responsibility for the collective care, coordination, and integration of services for the betterment of Uganda’s children.

As a personal commitment to uphold the goals and objectives outlined by both the Goals for Child Well-being and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), CFYDDI, and other attendees, signed the Munyonyo Declaration.  Whether on a national or grass roots level, CFYDDI continues to work for the betterment of Uganda’s children!
