Douglas College Steps Forward CFYDDI Labour Force with Canada’s International Youth Internship Program (IYIP)

Kristen and Court- Murchison (3)

CFYDDI is pleased to host Canadian interns, Kristen Myers and Courtney Vaughan, in partnership with Douglas College and the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Development Canada’s International Youth Internship Program (IYIP). Over the next six months they will work with the wider local community to implement several of the Centre’s programs.

While visiting, Kristen is combining her love for sports and advocacy by working on the Centre’s ‘Protect the Goal Campaign’, which promotes HIV/AIDS awareness by using sports as a platform. She is also helping to design and implement a micro-business entrepreneurial curriculum for CFYDDI’s Build Your Business Program, empowering members of the local community to become successful small business owners.

Courtney will also be focusing her efforts on our Build Your Business Program contributing to both the curriculum and education of local community members about basic business principles with hopes of establishing a small confectionery at the Centre following the program. She will also be using her experience as a Summer Camp Director and ICT specialist in order to expand the curriculum of our Health Education and Computer Literacy Camp.

Both interns are incredibly excited to be a part of the CFYDDI team and are looking forward to contributing their time and efforts while here!

  1. Welcome to an incredible organization, founded by dedicated people. I hope you enjoy your time with CFYDDI.
It is truly a group that walks its talk; and gives back to its community of children and families.
