The newly appointed Minister for youth and children affairs Evelyn Anite has promised to improve on the involvement of young people with disabilities in government programs. Hon Anite who was speaking yesterday after she was approved by the appointments committee in Parliament said that involving youth with disabilities will tackle the problem of unemployment among such groups.
The Minister said she will ensure that youth with disabilities will be linked to existing jobs in government and the private sector for skills development. The Minister further aims at renewing the child protection Unit in the ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development to ensure that the girl child is protected against rape.
Hon. Anite said many underage girls are being raped but denied justice. “Many children have been battered and others raped, am going to ensure that such issues are addressed through the child protection Unit,” said Anite.
Anite, who is the Northern Youth MP, replaced Ronald Kibule as the youth and children affairs minister. Her appointment has raised hope among the youth fraternity in the country.
As Emerging youth leaders we have hope that Hon. Anite will user her position to effectively advance the youth agenda.
